Information on the Mid-Term Review Meeting 2005
The Si-WEBS Mid-Term Review Meeting will be held at Bruxelles, ULB, Campus Plaine- Block A on February 7, 13h – February 8, 16h.
Hi everybody,
Another message from me today, following the one you should have received conerning the announcement for the special session we organize during the ASLO in Santiago (June 2005). Remember the dead line : February 1st ! I strongly encourage all young researchers to submit an abstract to this session SS 40. P. Herman has just accepted to give the first tutorial.
The topic of this message concerns the Mid-Term Review (MTR) Meeting.
Attached, you will find a definitive agenda which has been agreed with Jean-Bernard Veyret, our scientific officer in Bruseels, who finally will attend the meeting (instead of Pr. Nesbit, as written in my previous e-mail). A participant list is attached as well. Let me recall you that the Commission expects that all young researchers, their mentors and the scientists in charge in each group, will be present for the two half-days.
The objective of the Senior Researchers presentations (5-10 minutes each) are to (i) describe the responsabilities of his/her team in the network, (ii) the approached adopted and (iii) the benefits gained by his/her group through the participation in the network.
The objectives of the Young Researchers presentations (15' + 5') are to (i) present their scientific activities and results and (ii) at the end of the presentation, the training experiences brought by the network (individual and common training : training on instruments, secondments, summer schools, conferences etc...).
You will receive more details about practical information (accomodation, directions...) from Christiane Lancelot by early January.
The agenda has been prepared, so that those who wish to be away from home only one night can do it by traveling the monday morning and the tuesday afternoon.
However, I would greatly appreciate to know who is planning to arrive the sunday, so we can see if we can organize informal presentations by the young researchers who may wish to repeat (Christiane, is this something easy to organize at ULB ?). I would also strongly encourage the young researchers to plan on staying a few more hours the tuesday afternoon, so they can find time to discuss in small groups, about common tasks they have in the project and/or continue the work on the global modeling. Please, talk !
Last word : I haven't received all the titles for the talks, for the young and the less young.... Thanks for sending this information as soon as you can, if not done yet !
I wish you all the best for a nice vacation and a happy new year !
Olivier
